Having sailed past its original tentative opening of November 2012, downtown's upcoming Punch Bowl Social — the second outpost of the Denver-based entertainment complex/bar/diner — is now looking toward a mid-July opening on the top level of downtown's Pioneer Place shopping mall. According to owner Robert Thompson, construction is currently underway at the 32,000-square-foot site, which as previously reported, will feature two distinct spaces: Punch Bowl PDX (which will feature 12 bowling lanes and parlour games), and the 70-seat diner Social Food & Drink.
Although the "gastrodiner" menu will be somewhat similar the one at Punch Bowl's Denver location (which opened in November 2012), Thompson says the particular Portland details are in the works. "We're not a chain; we don't have stamped out menus that we bombard each market with. This is going to a nuanced and customized [menu] for Portland." Updates as they become available.
