[Avila, 4/16/13]
With auspicious Burger Week timing, popular downtown burger cart BrunchBox will soon officially swing the doors open at its first brick-and-mortar restaurant later this week, taking over a ground-floor space in downtown's historic Eaton Building. As promised, the restaurant will feature all the hand-pressed burger favorites from the BrunchBox cart — like the grilled-cheese-sandwiched YouCanHasCheeseburger, two-patty Burgermeister, and (slightly) more modest build-it-yourself burgers (available, upon request, on Texas toast). Beefy breakfast sandwiches are also still on the menu, but the restaurant location sees the addition of new items like "loaded" French fries, onion rings, and milkshakes. And of course, with a roof comes proper seating: the restaurant features 15 seats and a long standing counter.
According to owner Derek Coughlin, the original BrunchBox cart at SW 5th and Oak will remain open. The brick-and-mortar restaurant plans to celebrate its official grand opening on Saturday, April 20 with $4.20 YouCanHasCheeseburgers all day. Hours of operation: 8a.m. to 10p.m., daily.
