Here now, this week's event-planning EaterWire:
N. MISSISSIPPI—It's officially outdoor grilling season: Interurban will fire up the backyard barbecue this Sunday, April 28 to celebrate the release of two new Breakside Brewery beers. The all-afternoon event (from 3-8p.m.) will see chef Drew Sprouse manning a barbecue covered in ribs, chicken, and pulled pork, served up with classic picnic sides like potato salad (and, if it counts as a "side," Jell-O shots). Those lingering after the event can enjoy an extended happy hour menu, available at Interurban until close. More information here.
ALBERTA—Aviary's famously collaborative trio of chef/owners — Sarah Pliner, Kat Whitehead, and Jasper Shen — invite another voice to their flock in an upcoming beer pairing dinner with Migration Brewing, set for Wednesday, April 24. The family-style dinner features four courses of passed plates served family-style, each course paired with a selected brew: signature dishes like the three-cup chicken and crispy pig ear arrive to the table with Migration's Luscious Lupulin IPA. Reservations are $45 and available by calling 503-287-2400.
DIVISION/CLINTON—Tomorrow night (Wednesday, April 24), Bar Avignon has pledged 25 percent of the evening's proceeds to a fundraiser for North Portland's Community Transition School. To aid in the celebration, the spot is offering one-night-only specials like veal tartare, hamachi crudo, and a prawn-and-blue-marlin ceviche, not to mention $6 margaritas and $6 wine by the glass all night. More information here.
