Taste of the Nation, the national food-filled fundraiser for anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength, will celebrate its annual Portland event on Tuesday, May 7. TOTN Portland takes over downtown's McMenamins Crystal Hotel & Ballroom, featuring more than 40 restaurants, 25 wineries, and five breweries doling out bite-sized samples of some signature dishes. (Among the participants in the $85 general admission tasting: Bollywood Theater, Firehouse, Laurelhurst Market, Smallwares, and St. Jack.) Dedicated eaters who purchase VIP or LUXE admission receive early entry and exclusive tastes from Imperial, Ox, and Roe, among others. And of course, all proceeds from ticket sales benefit Share Our Strength's efforts to end childhood hunger in America.
And to kick-start the generosity, organizers have graciously offered Eater readers the chance to win a pair of general admission tickets to the event (worth $170). To win, email the contest hotline with the name of the restaurant you're most excited to taste from (the full list of participating restaurants is here). We'll select a winner at random on Friday, May 3.
