Bartender Injured in Bluehour Fire, Spot to Reopen Today

New, 6 comments

A fire broke out behind the bar at the Pearl District's tony Bluehour around 9p.m. last evening, sending a bartender to the hospital with second- and first-degree burns. The fire triggered the restaurant's overhead sprinkler system and guests in the dining room had to be evacuated. In a statement, owner Bruce Carey reports that the restaurant expects to be re-open in time for happy hour tonight:

Our bartender Steve Grimm has been treated at a local hospital and he is expected to return home today. The fire was the result of a high proof alcohol that inadvertently ignited while preparing a cocktail. We are grateful to our amazing staff for acting so quickly and efficiently. We are working diligently to put the bar back in full operation. We will be closed for lunch today, Friday, but fully expect to be open in time for happy hour at 4:30p.m. We regret that our guests' evenings were interrupted by this accident, but thankful everyone is okay.

Updates if/when they become available.
