For 10 minutes tomorrow, many bartenders' shakers around town will go silent to recognize the passing of one of its favorite customers. Per the Oregonian, one of the Portland bar scene's "most avid supporters," Matthew Schuler, passed away on Monday at the age of 40, and Beaker & Flask owner Kevin Ludwig has organized a moment of silence this Friday at 5:15p.m. At the O, many bartenders-about-town share their memories of Schuler, and Ludwig himself tells Eater, "He was a great man, and he deserves the tribute."
