Downtown will soon welcome a new bar with an impressive pedigree. The Oregonian brings word that Jackknife, a new bar and lounge by John Janulis (of vegan-friendly spots Bye & Bye and Sweet Hereafter) and Jake Carey (SE's Dig a Pony), is slated for the lobby space in the Governor Hotel, the 100-year-old hotel property that also houses Portland's iconic Jake's Grill.
Details are scarce: Per the O, "no opening date or menu details have been announced." Janulis debuted the vegan Bye and Bye on NE Alberta in 2007, following-up with the Sweet Hereafter bar on SE Belmont in 2011. Carey, along with partners Aaron Hall and Page Finlay, opened up Dig a Pony in the Central Eastside District in July 2011. More as it becomes available.
