Le Pigeon's Gabriel Rucker has won his second James Beard Award. At the 2013 James Beard Awards, still unfolding at NYC's Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Rucker took home the prize for Best Chef Northwest, beating fellow Portland nominees Cathy Whims (Nostrana) and Naomi Pomeroy (Beast), as well as Seattleites Ethan Stowell (Staple & Fancy) and Jason Franey (Canlis).
It's Rucker's second JBF award: In 2011, he won the prize for Rising Star Chef of the Year. As noted by the Eater liveblog of the ceremony: "Rucker says he didn't bring a tux because he didn't think he'd win." Full Beard Award coverage on Eater tomorrow.
