Chef Yair Maidan (an alum of Beaker & Flask and Imperial) will soon open a "NW influenced" falafel cart, Chikpeadx, on N. Interstate Avenue. In preparation, Maidan will first host a series of pop-ups around town, the first scheduled for Wednesday, May 15 at downtown's Portland Penny Diner. Starting at 5p.m., Maidan will serve falafel (available on pita, salad, or as a banh mi sandwich) and house-made sodas; PPD will open up its bar for the occasion. More information here. [EaterWire]
