Fringe Fest

In this week's Last Supper column, the Merc's Chris Onstad offers a roundup of his favorite four spots on the fringes of Portland city limits: "The unsexy, undiscovered specialty stand, far-afield and off the popular radar, is a holy grail of mine." Onstad name-drops his out-of-the-way spots for British pasties, Philly cheesesteaks, German pastries, and cemitas. Of the latter, at La Poblana, "it's a masterpiece of a sandwich blueprint that has me wondering why we don't see more of them closer in." [Mercury]
