At long last, Kir Jensen has announced the location of her upcoming brick-and-mortar sugar palace. Portland Monthly is first to report that Jensen's Sugar Cube bakery and cafe will soon take over the NE Alberta space currently home to the all-vegan Dovetail Bakery. In addition to her familiar sweet treats — boozy cupcakes and ice cream sandwiches — Jensen will offer a breakfast and lunch menu offering morning-appropriate dishes (cinnamon toast) and savory options (stradas).
Jensen, who's been considering a proper brick-and-mortar bakery for years, officially shuttered her iconic food cart in April. According to PoMo's Karen Brooks, the Sugar Cube cafe is set to open in August.
No word yet on Dovetail Bakery's own plans; more as it becomes available.
