Pizza Coming to Cinema 21; Where PDX Bartenders Drink

New, 6 comments

NW/ALPHABET DISTRICT—The Mercury brings news of major expansion plans at NW 21st's independent movie theater Cinema 21 (the theater will expand into the adjacent vacant space, adding two additional screens in the process). But more crucially on the food front: The theater will also soon start serving pizza slices from nearby Escape from New York. Also in the works: a new concessions counter "promising more food and drink options." [Mercury]

EVERYWHERE—Serious Eats checks in with nearly a dozen Portland bartenders to find out where the professionals go to drink, separated into categories for cocktails, wine, and "dive bars." Among the selections: Apex, Kir, Bar Avignon, and the Rum Club. [Serious Eats]

EVERYWHERE—As the slow march to Feast Portland continues — the multi-day food festival is still three month away — ticket-buyers are gaining some sense of the most popular events. According to a rep, several events are already sold out, including "dinner series" collaborations pairing Rodney Muirhead and Aaron Franklin; Trent Pierce and Sarah Simmons; and Cathy Whims and Stephanie Izard. Also sold out: the Pok Pok at Home cooking class with Andy Ricker. [EaterWire]
