HAWTHORNE—Today in sweet deals:Castagna chef Justin Woodward has announced the launch of a dessert-only tasting menu at the haute SE restaurant. The three-plate "flight," which is usually available at the end of the regular chef's tasting menu, can now be ordered on its own for $25, with an optional $12 wine pairing. More information here. EVERYWHERE—Laddie mag Playboy has unleashed is annual list of the Best Bars in America, and two Portland spots make the cut: The Whey Bar, of the "perennially thronged" Ox, is designated "Best Waiting Room," while Clyde Common is designated the "Best Reason to Book a Room in Portland." Of the latter: "The bar in Clyde Common restaurant, at the ­über-cool Ace ­Hotel, is refreshingly un-­Portland (little flannel, no taxidermy)." [Playboy]
