After long-stewing rumors, it's officially official: St. Jack bartender Kyle Webster and Beast chef Naomi Pomeroy will team up to open a new bar, Expatriate, across the street from Pomeroy's meaty restaurant. Portland Monthly brings the first major details, with word of Webster's succinct list of craft cocktails, Pomeroy's take on Burmese food, and an atmospheric emphasis on spun vinyl and dance parties. On the menu:
"Right now, she's toying with nutty, herbaceous Burmese salads, noodle dishes, shrimp toast, house curly fries with a 'high spice component,' and a crispy fish sandwich in a puffy-sweet roll chunked with sweet chili sauce, crispy basil and cucumber slaw."
Construction is currently underway, with a projected opening of early July. More information as it becomes available.
