Abby's Table to Close Retail Space in September

New, 1 comment

Chef Abby Fammartino, whose supper-club/retail to-go space Abby's Table has been open on SE Ankeny since 2008, has announced plans to vacate her current space later this year, with plans to "go mobile" and launch a series of pop-ups. According to Fammartino, the change comes as she needs to free up time to write a cookbook; in an e-mail announcement, she writes:

"In order to do the research for the book and make Abby's Table more useful to home cooks everywhere, I am going mobile! I will continue our summer calendar and then will be moving out of our current kitchen on September 30th. The table dinners will thereafter be "pop up" style events for the cookbook, in which the host or diners will participate in the cooking with me, so that I can learn about how to make the table dinner concept possible and useful for non-professional cooks."

In February of this year, Abby's Table expanded service to include a grab-and-go lunchtime component. Abby's last day on SE Ankeny will be September 30; until then, 25 regular dinner services are on the calendar.
