Pastry chef Kristen D. Murray (an alum of Paley's Place and Fenouil) has announced plans to (finally) open her own brick-and-mortar patisserie. PoMo reports that Murray's hybrid patisserie/"luncheonette counter" Maurice is slated for the former Reading Frenzy space on SW Oak Street, the same block that houses Courier Coffee and the Westside location of Sizzle Pie.
Per Karen Brooks, "Maurice will be a 'pastry luncheonette' by day and a destination for 'dessert cuisine' by night." (Daytime options will range from soups to salads to wraps; in the evenings, expect creations like beignets with goat's milk tapioca, fennel, and citrus.) Murray had been looking for a brick-and-mortar location since leaving Paley's Place in early 2012. Maurice's projected opening: fall 2013, more information as it becomes available.
