An Epic Look Inside Punch Bowl Social, Now Open in Pioneer Place

[Avila, 7/26/13]

After some minor build-out delays, Denver's premier entertainment complex/bar/diner/thingy Punch Bowl Social has officially opened its first Portland location (and second overall) in downtown's Pioneer Place Mall. The 32,000-square-foot venue takes over the third-floor rotunda space once home to Todai, and as previously reported, in place of buffets and sushi bars come adult-focused gaming in the form of bowling alleys, game rooms, billiards, and shuffleboard.

Owner Robert Thompson, who opened the first Denver Punch Bowl in November 2012, promises a made-from-scratch menu in the space's 70-seat diner, dubbed Social Food & Drink. The spot will serve three meals a day — plus a late-night menu until 2a.m. — with several vegan options. A brief breakfast menu (which features its own fresh-juice section) offers dishes like a vegan-sausage malted waffle, house-made granola, and an open-faced corned beef sandwich (served with gruyere and egg). The gastrodiner's lunch and dinner menu offers dishes like "Northwest oyster nachos" (smoked oysters, chimichurri, olives, and mozzarella), burgers, and sandwiches (Old Bay catfish; corned beef and kimchi; a vegan tofu and havarti dilll).

Punch Bowl Social is open now. Hours of operation: 11a.m. to 2a.m., Monday through Friday; 9a.m. to 2a.m., Saturday and Sunday.
