Salt & Straw's National Chef Series; Dingo's Calls it Quits

MULTIPLE LOCATIONS—As part of its ongoing "Guest Chef" series, the collaboration-happy Salt & Straw has announced a few out-of-town names will join the "guest" churning lineup just in time for the Feast Portland food festival. NYC's April Bloomfield and LA's Michael Voltaggio will offer "Feast-inspired" special flavors ("sweet corn, waffle cones, and caramel" for Bloomfield; "loaded baked potato ice cream" for Voltaggio) alongside Portland chefs like Gabriel Rucker, Gregory Gourdet, and Jenn Louis. (Louis' own creation is called "Mint Leaves with Sea Urchin Meringues"). The special Feast flavors will be available both in S&S's three area scoop shops and online. [EaterWire]

SOUTHEAST—After a 13-year run on SE Hawthorne, Mexican restaurant/bar Dingo's officially called it quits earlier this month. Fans are mourning the bar's margaritas and outdoor patio; casual passersby will fondly remember the odd typeface on its signage. [EaterWire]

NORTHEAST—Blazer bar Spirit of '77 temporarily closed for its annual summer break in July and has now confirmed its re-opening date, just in time for NFL season: A tipster reports that Spirit will re-open on August 31. [EaterWire]
