On this week's event-planning EaterWire:
DIVISION/CLINTON—Division Winemaking Company will collaborate with Bar Avignon tomorrow, August 14, for wine flight specials and an all-night happy hour. One $13 flight from Division Wine Co. includes chardonnay, pinot noir, and a cabernet Franc blend. Snacks include a slow-roasted pork sandwich and mussels and clams on garlic toast, both for just $7. Living this fancy for so cheap requires no reservation — simply show up to Bar Av from 5 to 10p.m.
SOUTHEAST—For the good vibrations of a beer garden — without any IPA or stout-induced rowdiness — visit the Hawthorne Street Fair this Sunday, where the Mighty Mites presents Session as their beer of choice. Breweries like Fort George, Widmer, and Lompoc are all offering their iterations of this light, drinkable brew. Entry is $10 in front of Bazi Bierbrasserie, from 11a.m. to 7p.m.
N. WILLIAMS/MISSISSIPPI—On August 28, Salt & Straw will join chef Jenn Louis at Lincoln for a five-course collaborative dinner. Each course will marry Salt and Straw's idiosyncratic ice cream with Louis' affinity for savory morsels of meat and local produce. A menu has yet to be released. If this suspense is killing you, make a $65 reservation by calling 503-288-6200.
