The Country Cat's dynamic duo of Adam and Jackie Sappington have landed their first cookbook deal: Eater reports that Heartlandia: Heritage Recipes from The Country Cat will be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. According to Publishers Marketplace [sub. required], the book, co-written by local food writer Ashley Gartland, will feature 125 recipes that "make American heritage cooking relevant to a new generation of home cooks."
The Sappingtons opened the Country Cat in 2007 and quickly gained notoriety for Adam's whole-hog butchery and plates of buttermilk fried chicken. No release date has been set for Heartlandia.
