Breaking news: Tonight will the last night of service for Riffle NW, the 16-month old "catch-inspired" restaurant in the Pearl. Owner Jennifer Quist confirms to Eater that she has decided to move forward with other projects — including a soon-to-be-announced Portland bar with current Riffle bar manager Brandon Josie.
After an exhaustive search, the sustainable seafood restaurant opened in the Pearl District on May 15, 2012 in the former 50 Plates location. Just shy of its one-year anniversary, founding chef Ken Norris left the project earlier this spring; at the time, Quist described her search for a new executive chef as an ongoing process that involved "forming relationships" with chefs in the Bay Area, Portland, and Seattle. To that end, Quist indicated she will continue with the Riffle concept, "just not in Portland." Updates about the new bar project as they become available.
