The Mercury checks in on the week-old cart pod outside Portland City Hall, which came at the expense of an ongoing, 18-month-long protest on behalf of the homeless. Activists argue that the new pod displaced housing-rights activists without "any public discussion," and according to the Merc, "the city spent nearly $4,000 ordering tables and chairs for the new pod weeks before sweeping out homeless protestors." A new protest on behalf of the booted protesters is scheduled for today. [Blogtown; previously] [Photo: Wikimedia Commons]
