Rick Gencarelli's sandwich shop Lardo will soon make it three: The Oregonian brings first word that a third Lardo location is slated for a still-under-construction building on North Williams Avenue at Mason Street. And the new Lardo isn't the only ChefStable project going in the space: Restaurateur Kurt Huffman confirms that the group will open its first-ever bakery project, a French bakery by Philippe Garcia, currently the head baker at the Bay Area's Fort Bragg Bakery.

The as-yet-unnamed bakery project will supply bread for Lardo and other restaurants in the ChefStable stable. As Huffman tells the O, "Right now we're spending several hundred thousand dollars a year on bread... I was thinking about how great it would be to buy bread from ourselves." Garcia, an alum of Lyon's Le Garçon Boulanger and Napa Valley's Model Bakery, will soon relocate to Portland to start work on the new concept.

The third Lardo outpost, meanwhile, will be Gencarelli's fourth Portland project, as his fresh pasta restaurant Grassa debuted in the West End in June. Projected opening for both projects: late 2013. More as it becomes available.
