The legendary Parisian "flash mob" dinner party Diner en Blanc — which became the subject of its own documentary earlier this year — is bringing its first official event to Portland. As with all other Diner en Blanc events (which have been thrown in 40 cities all over the world), the location is kept under wraps until the day of the event itself, and guests, preferably dressed in all white, bring their own food. According to organizers, the PDX pop-up — scheduled for this Saturday, August 31 — is aiming small (by Diner en Blanc standards, anyway) with 500 guests.
Those interested in attending must register online in order to get the day-of details. Though everything is under wraps, the Portland Cello Project has confirmed it will perform at the inaugural event.
