Ava Gene's Lands on Bon Appetit's Top 50 of 2013 List

As per annual tradition, Bon Appetit has unleashed the not-so-short list of nominees for its annual "Hot 10" (aka restaurant editor Andrew Knowlton's list of Best New Restaurants of the Year), and Duane Sorenson's Ava Gene's is the only Portland restaurant to make the 50-spot list of nominees. Writes Bon App: "Chef Joshua McFadden's Roman trattoria-inspired menu lists don't-miss proteins like wood-grilled pork steaks, but the vibrant vegetable combinations in the Giardini ("gardens") section of the menu are what sets Ava Gene's apart."

Last year, Bon App surprised many by naming E. Burnside's Luce to its "Hot of 2012" list (the other nominees were the meaty Ox and also-Sorenson-owned Woodsman Tavern). Bon App's actual Hot 10 list will drop on August 14.
