Trinket, the all-brunch restaurant that took over SE's Kingdom of Roosevelt space, has opened for business. As previously reported, with chef Eric Bechard relocating his Roosevelt concept to parts unknown, employee Gina Helvie has taken over the space, offering a daily brunch menu with equal parts breakfast and lunch options. (The concept returns the space back to its "neighborhood cafe" roots; before Roosevelt, it was home to the Lyrik Cafe coffee shop.)
Helvie's opening bill of fare offers duck eggs Benedict, creamy polenta with steamed eggs and kale, and a savory waffle with onion, bacon, thyme, and goat cheese. More lunch-y dishes include salads and sandwiches; the spot also serves morning pastries like pistachio rolls (which incidentally, are on a $1 special all day today).
Trinket's hours of operation: 9a.m. to 4p.m., Wednesday through Monday.
