All throughout the summer of the cronut, Portland didn't birth a single cronut copycat: until now. Kind of. Pix Patisserie's Cheryl Wakerhauser has announced the debut of the "macaronut," essentially a deep-fried macaron "covered in a light fluffy batter." Wakerhauser says that the patisserie will have at least 50 fried macarons each day, in about a dozen flavors (like bananas foster, bourbon, and kalamansi lime, pictured). The macaronuts are $3.75 each and available starting now. [EaterWire]
