Feast Portland 2013 kicked off last night with the only competitively minded event of the weekend — the Sandwich Invitational — and two PDX spots emerged as winners. Laurelhurst Market won the judge's trophy for its smoked beef tongue wrap/sandwich; the Country Cat took home the people's choice award for its lamb burger. (Among the contenders: Husk's Sean Brock, who served up a "hillbilly" fried bologna sandwich, and Austin's Paul Qui, who served a deconstructed sandwich of rabbit seven ways.) [EaterWire]
