At long last, Nick Zukin has confirmed rumors about a second location for his popular guisados spot Mi Mero Mole: In an email announcement, Zukin writes that construction is underway at MMM2, inside Chinatown's Goldsmith Building and "next [door] to the wonderful folks at Orox Leather. (The family that owns and runs this leather store are from Oaxaca.)"
According to Zukin, the spot will feature a "slightly expanded" menu highlighting Mexican guisados (stews and stir-frys) and house-made tortillas. The space will have a "dedicated bar," but like the SE Division restaurant, will offer counter service "in order to keep prices reasonable." Zukin plans a slow roll-out, starting first with lunch service, then hopes to install plans for dinner, late-night dining, and/or breakfast take-out. MMM2's projected opening: December, more information as it becomes available.
