Another Portland-area restaurant is speaking out against Yelp, saying that their restaurant's 63 filtered reviews, many of them favorable, are hidden from their page because of their refusal to advertise [warning: .pdf]. Hala's Lebanese Grill owner Eli Khoury tells the NW Examiner that many of Hala's favorable reviews were filtered by the site's algorithm after he told a sales rep that he couldn't afford the $300/month to advertise, and he uses the e-word: "I refuse to pay extortion."
