WOODSTOCK— The long-planned Woodstock location of artisan convenience store Green Zebra Grocery has been nixed, thanks to New Seasons' new designs on the neighborhood. In a Facebook announcement, Green Zebra founder Lisa Sedlar (herself a former New Seasons CEO) writes: "We are thrilled for the neighborhood to be getting their very own New Seasons Market (long overdue) and we don't think there is a need for a store our size when there will be a New Seasons Market just a few blocks away." The post ends with a "stay tuned for other upcoming Green Zebra locations." [Facebook via PBJ]
PEARL DISTRICT— The brick-and-mortar Pearl District location of the BrewCycle "pedal pub" opened its doors toward the end of 2013. According to WWeek, BrewStop offers 14 beers on tap (including options by 10 Barrel, Gigantic, and Occidental). More information here. [WW]
HAWTHORNE/WEST END— Departure chef Gregory Gourdet is up next in Lardo's ongoing "Chefwich" guest-sandwich series, and his creation — a crispy chicken tonkatsu sandwich (with shredded cabbage, Japanese pickles, and a yuzu-jalapeno mayo) is available now. As per usual, a portion of the Chefwich's sales will go to charity, this time to Our House of Portland, a local resource for low-income people living with HIV/AIDS. [EaterWire]
