For many years, the Portland food community has been trying to launch a public market/food wonderland along the lines of the San Francisco Ferry Plaza, New York's Chelsea and Gotham West Markets or Seattle's Melrose Market. Named after native son and "first foodie" James Beard, the market seems like a no-brainer, but it has yet to get past the planning stages.
On Sunday, Oct. 26, six favorite Portland chefs are hoping to give the project a push, teaming up for a benefit dinner at Atuala. Chef/owner Jose Chesa will be cooking along with Earl Ninsom of Langbaan, Anthony Cafiero of Racion, Patrick McKee of Paley's Place, BJ Smith of Smokehouse 21, and Kristen Murray of Maurice.
Tickets to the star-studded, 6-course meal, cost $175 per person, which includes wine pairings and gratuity. Get yours here.
