Let there be food.
There's a tasty new tenant at the South Waterfront's recently opened Collaborative Life Sciences Building, which is a partnership between OHSU, PSU and OSU at the base of the new Tilikum Crossing. Elephants Deli opened its latest Flying Elephants location this morning, bringing food and much-needed coffee to an area filled with students and teachers. In other words, it's going to be packed. "Yesterday, the students were already trying to get in," says marketing and communications manager Cheyenne Terbrueggen.
The new location offers a menu similar to other Flying Elephants locations, with plenty of grab-and-go baked goods, sandwiches and salads. There are also made-to-order options like scrambles, breakfast burritos and grilled sandwiches.
But this outpost has something the others don't: an exclusive grill menu with dishes like mac and cheese with caramelized onions and bacon, chicken enchiladas, and burgers with onion-and-bacon compote, blue cheese and arugula. There's also wine by the glass and beer on draught.
Next week, from Oct. 27 to 29, pick up something to eat and get a free 8-ounce Stumptown drip coffee.
