Tennessee Red's, the barbecue joint/pool hall on S.E. 11th near Ladd's Addition, has quietly closed its doors. No word on what ended its 18-year-tenure: The website and Facebook page make no mention of the closing, but the phone has been disconnected.
Meanwhile, Kurt Huffman of Chefstable has already signed a lease on the space. "I went the morning after they closed and talked to the owner and we agreed on a sales price," he says. "We signed the lease today. We took over before we even knew what we were going to put in it. I just love the space."
The OLCC liquor license application says the business name is Otter's Sausagefest. But Huffman says it's just a jokey placeholder (though they do have a sausage concept in the works). Stay tuned to see which Chefstable project will be moving in.
