Although it received a heaping handful of positive reviews in the few months it was open, Oscar Drake's has officially called it quits and the restaurant is up for sale.
In late April, the big, 170-seat bar and grill took over the long-empty Agency Ultra Sport Lounge near Providence Park, dividing the giant space into three areas: a clubby lounge, a dining room, and a sportsbar where guests could catch a game. But even though the restaurant quickly earned fans during its short lifespan, foot traffic was low and expenses were high. On September 9, they announced a temporary closure via Facebook:
"We are temporarily closed (for repairs - financial repairs). After 19 weeks our sales are still short of our weekly breakeven point and we no longer have the funds to cover the short fall."
But more than a month has passed and Oscar Drake's won't be opening again "unless we find someone who wants to buy the restaurant," says former general manager Benjamin Pickthorn. "The owner didn't have enough back-up capital to keep it afloat."
