Ben & Jerry's isn't stingy when it comes to ice cream. Just last week the company was giving away its goods in Pioneer Square. But Portland Monthly reports that today's freebie event at the Hawthorne store is extra-special: Co-founder Jerry Greenfield will be on hand to stump for Oregon's Measure 92, the GMO food labeling law.
At 2:30 p.m., the grandfather of experimental ice cream will give a short talk on GMO food labeling at the Hawthorne store, and will reveal an honorary Measure 92 ice cream flavor while he's at it. Stick around for a free scoop from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
