As Eater reported earlier this month, there's a new tea bar going into a newly renovated building on NE Killingsworth. And now we've learned proprietor Erica Indira Swanson has set an opening date of Dec. 1.
The 1,000 square-foot, 40-seat cafe will have a modern, airy aesthetic with seating at tables as well as a bar. Guests can sit and sip 30 varieties of organic, loose-leaf teas and herbal tisanes, as well as matcha sourced directly from a small family farm in Shizuoka, Japan.
Even the bubble tea will get the royal treatment. Instead of an artificially flavored mix, expect black-tea based drinks thickened with condensed milk for a smoother and less saccharine taste.
Swanson will also sell loose-leaf tea, matcha and tea-making supplies retail, so you can brew her teas at home. Snacks are curated from local baking luminaries Bake Shop pastries, and Bowery Bagels.
