This movie trailer for Food Chains offers food for thought as we crowd the supermarket aisles this week, stocking up on produce for the big feast on Thursday.
The recently released documentary, produced by actress Eva Longoria and writer/filmmaker Eric Schlosser ("Fast Food Nation," "Food Inc."), and narrated by actor Forest Whitaker, is hitting Portland's Clinton St. Theater this weekend from Nov. 28-30. Showtimes are at 5 p.m.
The film details the common exploitation of farm workers, likening their treatment to a new kind of slavery or "peasantry." Fans of the film include Michael Pollan, Barry Estabrook, Marion Nestle, Amy Goodman, Eve Ensler, Ted Genoways and Greg Kaufmann.
