Inside Farina Bakery, Now Open on Hawthorne

Now serving sweet treats, Sterling coffee, and morning cheer.

Farina Bakery officially opened this morning, and it's ready to make your day.

The colorful apron murals are finished and dry, the Sterling Roasters coffee is brewed, and the bakery case is fully stocked with muffins, scones, pastries, sticky buns, and, of course, owner/baker Laura Farina's famous French macarons.

Farina, an alum of Nuvrei Bakery in the Pearl, earned high praise for her wholesale line of French macarons, getting shout-outs from publications all over town. But she's no one-trick pony and, the young baker had a dream to open a retail bakeshop of her own, where she could interact with customers and give them a warm place to linger over morning treats and coffee.

Her dream is now reality, and you can find her on SE Hawthorne near Ladd's Addition, in the building formerly home to Sel Gris and Otto. She has transformed it into a cozy haven of cheer, with happy apron murals on both walls. Aprons are a running theme, actually. The whole crew wears custom creations made by staffer Jessi Manley. If it inspires a little apron fever in you, there are a handful for sale at the counter.
