Late Night Pancake House and Cocktail Bar Coming to NE Portland

Soon you can eat your pancakes while you're boozing instead of after.

It just makes sense.

The Beaumont/Grant Park/Hollywood area is both teeming with families and getting an influx of young adults thanks to a spate of newly constructed apartments and condos. So what restaurant would be the perfect common denominator for two such disparate target markets? An all-day/late-night pancake house with cocktails, of course.

Portland Monthly reports that Batter, Griddle & Drinkery will be opening next month in a newly constructed mixed-use development on NE Fremont. They'll be serving up hotcakes and waffles topped, stuffed, and otherwise adulterated with all manner of combinations — Asian fried chicken, pork belly cubanos, and bananas, bacon and peanut butter, to name a few. The 65-seat restaurant will also have a full bar featuring barrel-aged cocktails.

It's the brainchild of Portland restaurant industry veteran Dan Cogan, who tells PoMo's Kelly Clarke: "The idea came from a love of going to the Original Hotcake House late at night for years. Usually people go from the bars first, then go get hotcakes afterwards. The idea was to give people a place that they didn't have to leave."
