The OLCC recently decided to give Silver Dollar Pizza a spanking. The sports bar on NW 21st Avenue has had its liquor license temporarily suspended during one of the booziest times of year.
A sign posted on their door states, "The OLCC has ludicrously decided to punish us ... because we allowed a minor to work in our kitchen."
Details are vague You can read the details of the case here on here the OLCC's website. Last we heard minors are still allowed to work in restaurant kitchens (with caveats). But the Silver Dollar has a "Number I minor posting, meaning that minors are prohibited from the premises at all times." The Silver Dollar says "Let it be known that we did not serve alcohol to any minors and we did not commit any crime."
But there's a silver lining for the Silver Dollar. The suspension will be lifted just in time for New Year's. They're still open for business, serving up pizza and "refreshing non-alcoholic beverages" alongside pool tables, ping pong, air hockey, fooseball, and shuffleboard. And they also own Underdog Sportsbar across the street, which is ready and willing to be your boozy stand-in.
