Bollywood Theater on NE Alberta was pretty much too small from Day One. Troy MacLarty's take on Indian street food was an instant success when it opened in 2012, and lines are still perennially out the door.
When he opened the second location on SE Division earlier this year, he wisely went bigger, occupying a 4,000-square foot space. And now, The Oregonian reports that MacLarty will be expanding the original, taking over the space next door that was formerly home to Bin 21 wine bar. The move will nearly double the size of his restaurant to around 2,700 square feet.
In addition to offering more seating, the larger space will give the kitchen more room to play like their brethren at the Division spot, who recently began offering a smattering of specials. Among the new dishes that The Oregonian's Michael Russell recently checked out, the biryani, which is offered twice weekly at both locations, was a standout.
The Northeast renovation should be ready by spring.
