Closed: Rogue's Eugene Public House and Track Town Brewery

Say goodbye to the Track Town Signature beers.

The day after Christmas, Rogue's Eugene Public House and Track Town Brewery closed its doors for good, shutting off its 35 taps and retiring its Track Town signature beers: Honey Orange Wheat, 200 Meter, and Triple Jump.

If you hardly ever venture to Eugene, you probably think you don't care. But it turns out the brewery, which was called West Brothers Eugene City Brewery before Rogue bought it in 2004, has a storied history as the breeding ground for many of Portland's — and the state's — notable brewers. The New School beer blog puts it all in perspective, listing the brewers who have passed through early in their careers, including Christian Ettinger of Hopworks Urban Brewery, and Tim Barr at Ground Breaker.
