Teardrop Lounge owner Daniel Shoemaker and his former bar manager Sean Hoard ventured into the cocktail ingredients business last spring with Commissary. The duo's signature syrups, shrubs, and fresh juices were targeted to industry professionals, giving them a high-quality, locally made line of time-savers for their bars. But as of today, the rest of us can get in the action, too.
Pearl Specialty Market, Oso Market and Bar, and Prettyman's General now carry Commissary's shrubs and syrups, which means you can get fancy with your holiday cocktails and punches without having to break a sweat.
No need grind almonds for orgeat or steep citrus in sugar for oleo-saccharum. They've done it for you. They also have pineapple gomme syrup, 2:1 simple syrup, toddy syrup (with citrus and spices), humble pie shrub (which purportedly tastes like caramel-apple pie), ginger syrup, and grenadine.
If that's not enough, you can check out their new website and order from their full line of juices and syrups. Even better, let them come up with a cocktail for you and batch it up for your party. All you have to do is add the booze.
