Boke Bowl West Unleashes its Hotly Anticipated Dim Sum Brunch This Weekend

Dim sum, Boke-style, from carts, close-in. That is all.

Portland's brunch options are legendary, and they just keep getting better. On the heels of newly launched Asian-ish brunches from Bamboo Izakaya, Smallwares, and BTU Brasserie, Boke Bowl West is now ready to unveil its singular take on dim sum with brunch service starting this weekend.

Portland Monthly has a first look at the menu, which is divided into categories like "Steamed," "Fried," "Wok," and "Seared." As with traditional dim sum, carts will traverse the dining room, carrying small plates of dishes like Boke wings; hum bow with braised pork, pork jam, and kim chi; shrimp har gow with shrimp and pea shoots; and veggie sui mei. Special items include "Chix ‘n Waffles:" cornmeal-crusted chicken served with yeasty rice cakes.

Cocktails include Bloody Marys served with a garnish of fried chicken, and a carbonated, house-bottled Gin Fizz. For a sweet finish, expect profiteroles with banana cream and tamarind caramel; and custard tarts flavored with chai, ginger or coconut almond. Most dishes will cost $4 to $6. As with the Boke's other menus, everything is labeled veggie and gluten-free for diners with restrictions.

Boke Sum Brunch is offered at Boke Bowl West on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
