Soup for the Soul; Ferran Adrià Visits Seattle, Vancouver

PEARL DISTRICT— A half-dozen chefs will join forces for this Thursday's Soup for the Soul, the fourth-annual broth-filled fundraiser for Transition Projects. Little Bird, Verde Cocina, Kachka, Supa, Cyril's, and SoulCycle push the idea of the "soup kitchen" to the limit, each serving a bowl of soup; Pine State Biscuits and Cupcake Jones will also be on-hand offering snacks. Tickets to the February 20 event are $75, with all proceeds benefiting Transition Projects' programs moving the homeless to housing. Tickets and more information here. [EaterWire]

PACIFIC NORTHWEST— So, it's Portland proper, but elBulli founder Ferran Adrià will visit two nearby cities on his brief (five-stop) book tour for his seven-volume elBulli catalog, elBulli 2005-2011. Adrià will visit Vancouver, BC for a series of events on Saturday, March 8. The following day (March 9), he'll be in Seattle for a reception ($700) and lecture ($12) at Book Larder. [EaterWire]

EXPANSIONWIRE— Philadelphia's stunt-burger-makers PYT have announced ambitious national expansion plans, and though nothing's set in stone yet, Portland may soon be getting a site for spaghetti-bun burgers and deep-fried Twinkie burgers. According to Zagat, PYT will first open locations in NYC and Washington DC, though consultant Dan Rowe says he's already been approached from someone in Portland looking to franchise.
