After months helping set up the bar's impressive list of bottles, bartender Tommy Klus has parted ways with the Multnomah Whiskey Library. In his place, noted local whiskey enthusiast/consultant Stuart Ramsay (of the Ramsay's Dram tasting academy) will step in as the bar's official whiskey curator.
Ramsay will maintain the library's spirit offerings (and decide the menu's rotating categories) and spearhead its "education" program, both internally with MWL's bartenders and as part of the bar's Monday Night Education series, whose classes are open to the public. According to a rep, Ramsay will also continue his "Academy of Whiskey" outside the Library setting: "While he will maintain a heavy presence as the Library's curator, he will continue to be involved in the industry at large." A "welcome" tasting with Ramsay is set for Monday, February 24.
Meanwhile, no word yet on Klus's next move: Prior to MWL, he worked at Bluehour and Kask, but back in 2011, Klus told Eater that "it won't be long before I'm opening up my first bar." Stay tuned.
