Tamale Boy Opening Brick-and-Mortar in Woodlawn

New, 1 comment

Jaime Soltero, better known as the mobile tamale delivery chef Tamale Boy, will soon open a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Northeast Portland. According to a press release, the 34-seat Tamale Boy will serve up Mexican street food including both corn husk and banana leaf-wrapped tamales (filled with mole negro, chile verde pork, and cochinita pibil), alongside sides like beans, rice, and esquites (corn kernels roasted in chipotle). Guests can pair them with selection from a full bar, offering drinks like a Horchatalada (coconut rum, vodka, and agua fresca).

The Tamale Boy restaurant is planning a mid-March opening, but expect it to really take off in the summertime: The space features a sprawling outdoor patio — with a walk-up order window — that can seat up to 150. Updates as they become available.
