Tilt Goes to Inner Southeast for Its 3rd Portland Location

The blue-collar burger and biscuits joint Tilt will open its third Portland location, inside the iconic RJ Templeton Building near the east side of the Burnside Bridge. According to owner Octavian Jurj, the new Tilt will occupy a 3,000-square-foot space in the newly revamped building, with a "similarly branded interior as our Pearl location, just smaller." Like Tilt's newish Pearl outpost, the east side location will feature the same hybrid bar/bakery/food menu, with a separate "bar" atmosphere and similarly sprawling whiskey menu. Ristretto Roasters will provide coffee service, but due to lack of space, its counter will not be an independent Ristretto shop, as in the Pearl.

Tilt opened its first location, in Overlook's Swan Island neighborhood, in April 2012. Its Pearl District outpost debuted in September 2013. And as with the Pearl location — whose line-up of "workbench series" events is being finalized — the east side Tilt plans an interactive series to expand its offerings beyond things that can be eaten with gravy. "We are planning to launch an intimate, curated music series focused on promoting local talent through all of our locations," Jurj says. "Think 'campfire jam sessions' exploring and showcasing [everything from] bluegrass to indie acts."

Tilt east side's projected opening: July/August 2014.
