Here's a Pearl District bombshell: Chef John Gorham — of the Toro Bravo, Tasty N Sons, and Tasty N Alder trio — will open his fourth area concept in the form of a Mediterranean restaurant in the Pearl. The Oregonian brings word that Gorham's Mediterranean Exploration Company will take over the space most recently home to Riffle NW, offering dishes from Israel, Greece, North Africa, and Turkey, as Gorham tells the O.
Similar influences already pop up on Gorham's menus (most notably, the shakshuka at Tasty N Sons and in Toro's grilled lamb chops with a Mediterranean flair). A few more details, per an O update: Gorham plans to a revamp of the 100-seat space, and an early menu promises fresh-baked pita, kebabs, and kibbah. Mediterranean Exploration Company is aiming for a July 2014 opening. This one's hot; more information as it becomes available.
